LITTLE FALLS, NY – A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet.
The one that plays for the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs is named Cedric, and on Tuesday night, he certainly came out smelling like his namesake.
The UMass Lowell product had a total of four RBIs and a home run in the Diamond Dawgs’ sweep of the Watertown Rapids, 7-3 and 9-5.
Game One, a suspended game from July 17, started out with a bang for the Diamond Dawgs in the starting inning (bottom of the fourth). Rose (Pittsfield, MA/UMass Lowell) got things going with a 2-RBI single, scoring Matt Venuto (Mansfield, MA/Fairfield) and Tyler Cannon (Clayton, NJ/Iona). Brady Fureno would follow with a 2-RBI double, scoring Evan Berta (Yorktown Heights, NY/Fairfield) and Rose.
